Ogun Assembly Urges Monarch To Promote Peaceful Co-existence, Support Community Development Initiatives

Ogun State House of Assembly has implored the Omala of Imala land, Oba Moses Adelani Olabode, to ensure the sustainability of peace and development within his domain through maximum support for developmental initiatives by individuals for the overall benefits of the people.

The Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Akeem Balogun gave the charge during a meeting with the monarch, representatives of the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Soji Adewuyi, Commissioner of Police, ACP Dan Faruq, that of Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egba Land, Chief Kehinde Sofenwa and Chief Lai Labode, members of the Olorunda Community Development Association amongst others as part of its quasi -judicial function.

Balogun in company of other lawmakers including the Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Bolanle Ajayi, as well as Honourables Ganiyu Oyedeji, Yusuf Amosun, Wahab Haruna and Sikiratu Ajibola, opined that the Assembly would further engage the State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and the concerned traditional council to resolve the issue of prescribed authorities towards ensuring clarification in areas of jurisdictions of each monarch.

Stressing the dangers poised by inter-communal clashes, the lawmakers in their respective submissions sought the need for all concerned stakeholders to dialogue in the interest of peace, progress and even development of their communities and the State.
