The newly elected Chairman of NANS/JCC Ogun State Axis, Comrade Samson Adeyemi has allayed the fear of students concerning security issues on campuses.

Comrade Adeyemi made this known today following a recent attack on innocent students of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade, Ogun State by criminal elements who derive joy in disrupting the peaceful flow of academic activities.

Comrade Adeyemi said, “It is indeed disheartening to hear of the recent attack on innocent students of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade by criminal elements who derive joy in disrupting the flow of peaceful academic activities and leave pain and property loss behind them as trails”.

“While we urge the entire student population to remain calm and be rest assured of the priority given to their security, we condemn in strong terms these acts of brigandage, criminality and outright lawlessness”.

“Swiftly after receiving the distress signals and security report, the new leadership of NANS swung into immediate action by meeting the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Isara Remo Division, CSP Victor Adesega, Divisional Police Officer, Ogere Remo and the Director Remo North Division of the Department of State Services, Adekunle Adetayo”.

“They briefed us on the steps taken to track down these men of the underworld and assured us of their commitment to speedily combat all crimes especially against the student community”.

“We advised these security agencies to ensure that they organise a community meeting between all stakeholders in the security sector in the community, especially local security who are expected to ensure peace in the grassroots”.

“Now will be time to embrace in it’s entirety peaceful coexistence and all aspects of community policing as a way to combat all forms of violent crimes. Security is not One Man’s Business, it’s Everyone’s Business, he added.

“Students are advised to be vigilant and raise an alarm whenever they suspect some clandestine moves, hear strange noises or see strange faces. Please stay safe as even your security is our topmost duty, he concluded.
