The Academic Staff Union Of Universities (ASUU) has revealed the impact of adopting the IPPIS for Universities, stressing further that it will cause increase in tuition fee of students if adopted.
Tropic reporters gathered that the Chairman Of The Union, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto branch, Dr Abubakar Sabo disclosed this while addressing Newsmen concerning the issue of agreement and negotiation with the federal government.
Abubakar revealed that students in Arts, Social Sciences, Education, Others will pay about N300,000 per session while those in Science, Medical and other related faculties will pay about 450,000
According to Abubakar, he said, “My projection is that those in faculty of art, Education, Social sciences and others will pay about N300,000 annually.
”Those in sciences and other related will pay about N450,000.”he said
Meanwhile, the federal government on Wednesday had threatened to institute legal actions against the Academic Staff Union of Universities over protracted strike after the three hour closed door meeting flops again.
The IPPIS project, which commenced in 2007, is responsible for payment of salaries and wages directly to the bank accounts of federal government employees.
IPPIS also appropriately deducts and remits third party payments from the salaries of federal government workers
