Former MAPOLY Students’ Union Leader, Ogunsiji Becomes SWAN Scribe

A former President, Association of Mass Communication Students (AMACOS), Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun state, Comrade Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji has been elected as the Secretary, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ogun State Chapter.

Ogunsiji, who was previously the association’s Assistant Secretary was announced winner of the keenly contested election held at the SWAN secretariat, MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto in Abeokuta.

He was returned as the secretary having defeated the immediate past secretary of the association, Sanusi Lateef by 12 votes to 5.

Meanwhile, a veteran sports caster, Hakeem Akintunde was returned unopposed for the second consecutive time as Chairman of the association.

Other executives who were returned unopposed are; Jonathan Adekunle (Vice Chairman), Lekan Agbonde (Treasurer) and Bayo Adegboyega as Assistant Secretary.

Speaking shortly after presenting certificate of return to the new exco, a former Zonal Secretary, Nigeria Union of Journalists, B zone, and former Treasurer of SWAN in Ogun state, Elder Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji charged the new exco to see their new positions as a call to serve.

He urged them to derive new members and work on personal development of members to make the state chapter of the association a role model for others.

Meanwhile, the inauguration for the new exco will come up on Tuesday, 28th July, 2020 at the NUJ secretariat, Iwe-Irohin house, Abeokuta.
