The Ogun State House of Assembly today passed the State Technical and Vocational Education Board (amendment) Law, 2019 and State Official Order of Precedence of Public Officers and other Persons Law, 2019 into Law.
The bills with long titles: “H.B. No. 19/OG/2019- A Bill for a Law to amend the Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board and for Connected Purposes Law, 2012 as well as H.B. No. 014/OG/2019- A Bill for a law to establish the Official Order of Precedence of Officers and other persons in the Public Service of Ogun State and other matters connected therewith”, were passed during a plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, following the presentation of Committees’ reports by the Chairman, Committee on Education, Science and Technology, Ademuyiwa Adeyemi and his counterpart in charge of Establishments and Public Service Matters, Modupe Mujota.
The Chairmen thereafter moved the motion for the adoption of their separate reports, seconded by Hon. Abayomi Fasuwa and Oludaisi Elemide and supported by the Whole House through a voice vote, after which the bills were later read and adopted Clause- by – Clause by the Committee of the whole House.
The motion for the third reading of the bills was later moved by the Majority Leader, Yusuf Sheriff, seconded by Honourables Ganiyu Oyedeji and the Deputy Speaker, Oludare Kadiri, while the Ag. Clerk of the Assembly, Deji Adeyemo, did the third reading of the bills before the members.
Responding, Speaker Oluomo, thereafter directed that the clean copies of the bills be transmitted to the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his assent.
In the same vein, two bills scaled first reading during the plenary; the bills are the “Ogun State Legislative Funds Management Law, 2020 and Ogun State Judiciary Funds Management Law 2020”, and were read for the first time by the Ag. Clerk, ‘Deji Adeyemo before the lawmakers.
In another development, the Speaker has called on the State Ministries of Works and Infrastructure as well as Environment to immediately swing into action by compiling for necessary actions, lists of deplorable roads within the State that required an immediate intervention before the rainy commence in earnest view to ensuring they are being fixed
Oluomo made the call while responding to the remarks of Honourables Abdul Bashir Oladunjoye, Sherif and Akeem Balogun, who spoke under Personal Explanations requesting for intervention on some roads within their respective constituencies that required an urgent attention to ease human and vehicular movements.
