One of the recently recruited police constables has been caught while extorting an Okada rider in Ibadan.

Constable Popoola Olufemi, with service number 509377, was seen in an amateur video apparently recorded by the motorcyclist’s pillion rider (passenger).

Seeing the video on a WhatsApp group called Police/Press Chat Zone XI, the Police Public Relations Officer of Zone Eleven, Adekunle Ajisebutu took up the matter with dispatch, promising that the police would investigate it.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that the erring constable was attached to the Elebu Police Division while the act of extortion was carried out at Oke Aro community within the division.

Right now, Constable Popoola Olufemi and other members of him team are being detained having been arrested on the orders of the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Sina Olukolu.

Mr. Ajisebutu said: “after I informed him (Oyo PPRO and the CP, …the team has been arrested and currently being investigated”.

The Zonal PPRO further said: “Sadly, if you watched the video carefully, you will discover that the policeman is a Constable, one of those recently recruited. Before his enlistment, he must have been one of those condemning the ignoble act”.
