2025 AFCON Qualifiers: Nigeria to Face Benin, Libya, Rwanda

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been drawn in Group D of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers alongside their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers group mate Benin Republic.

The draw for the 35th AFCON, billed to be hosted in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, was conducted at the SuperSport studio in South Africa on Thursday as 48 countries were paired into 12 groups of four teams.

Super Eagles, who are currently without a coach following the resignation of Finidi George, are in Group D alongside the Cheetahs of Benin Republic, the Mediterranean Knights of Libya and the Wasps of Rwanda.

Meanwhile, the host country, Morocco, are drawn in Group B of the qualifiers alongside Gabon, Central African Republic and Lesotho. Defending champions Ivory Coast are in Group G with Zambia, Sierra Leone and Chad.

Group A consists of Tunisia, Madagascar, Comoros and the Gambia. Nigeria’s West African arch-rivals Ghana will face Angola, Sudan and Nigeria in Group F.
