A Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja, has fixed December 1, 2022 for its judgement on the application filed by an Ogun State PDP governorship aspirant, Otunba Jimi Lawal, to challenge the outcome of the party’s governorship primaries.
Justice Inyang Ekwo, after listening to counsels of the two parties in the case on Thursday, said the case would be given an accelerated hearing because it would lapse on December 2, 2022.
Justice Ekwo promised to do all within his powers to deliver the judgement on December 1.
On November 21, the supreme court had upheld the verdict of an Appeal Court which revoked the last July 29 order of a Federal High Court, which dismissed the application of Jimi Lawal for lack of jurisdiction.
The apex court ordered the chief judge of the Federal High Court to allocate the case to another judge, instead of Justice Taiwo Taiwo, to hear the case.
Jimi Lawal in the application, is asking the court to cancel the last May 25 governorship primaries, which elected Honorable Ladi Adebutu as the Ogun State PDP governorship candidate.
The governorship aspirant also wants the court to order a re-run of the primaries with the authentic delegates list of PDP members who participated in the congresses.
