2023: Akwa Ibom PDP Names Campaign Council

The Akwa Ibom State chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, has named a Campaign Council for its Governorship candidate in the 2023 general elections, Pastor Umo Eno.

Subsequently, the Campaign Council has also anounced the formation of 20 committees to assist it deliver on its mandate.

In a statement signed by the State party Chairman, Rt Hon Aniekan Akpan, the Council will be made up of the State Governor , Mr Udom Emmanuel and his wife, Dr( Mrs) Martha Udom Emmanuel, as Grand Patrons, the Deputy Governor, Mr Moses Ekpo, as Patron, and himself as Chairman.

Three Deputy Chairmen, Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien, Senator Effiong Bob and Hon Pat Ifon will assist the Chairman.

Ambassador Assam Assam, SAN, and Prince Godwin Ntukudeh are to serve as Director General and Deputy Director General while Sir Monday Ebong Uko and Prince Enobong Uwah will serve as Coordinator of Mobilisation and Secretary General respectively.

The Governorship candidate, his deputy, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, the three Senatorial District candidates of the party, Barr Emmanuel Enoidem, Rt Hon Ekong Sampson and Rt Hon Aniekan Bassey, 95 elders of the party including former deputy Governors Etim Okpoyo, Patrick Ekpotu and Chris Ekpenyong who is currently the Senator representing Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, former Minister Nduese Essien and former Chairmen of the party, Arc Otu Ita Toyo and Prince Uwem Ita Etuk also made the list.

The statement also listed 34 directorates to be manned by prominent party members, including the Directorate of Planning to be headed by a member of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Onofiok Luke, Finance, Rt Hon Frank Archibong, Treasury, Dr Linus Nkan, Public Affairs, Comrade Ini Ememobong, Strategic Communications, Anietie Usen, Venues, Engr Uwem Okoko, Media Branding, Sir Charles Udoh and Research/Documentation, Prof Trenchard Ibia.

In another statement signed by Prince Enobong Uwah on behalf of the Campaign Council, Chairmen, deputy Chairmen, secretaries and members were named for committees.

They include Ntufam Elijah Iyak as Chairman, Contact Committee, Dr Ini Adiakpan, Women Affairs, Isantim Keneth Okon, Youth Affairs, Capt Iniobong Ekong, Security, Ernest Akpan as Head of Local Media, and Rt Hon Ignatius Edet, Voter Enlightenment/Orientation.
