The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned upgrade to the 132kV Akure Osogbo transmission line.
This critical maintenance work will result in a two-month power outage in Ondo and Ekiti states.
According to a public notice, the upgrade will cause daily power outages of nine hours, starting from July 1 to August 31.
This extended disruption will affect both states, impacting residents and businesses alike.
The TCN aims to improve the transmission line’s reliability and capacity through this upgrade. While the work is necessary, it will require extended power disruptions to complete.
The company has notified the public in advance to minimize inconvenience and allow for preparations.
“Please be informed that the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, is scheduled to carry out critical maintenance work on the 132kV Akure Osogbo transmission line. The planned work involves the installation of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) and other activities. This will require outage on the affected network for safe working space.
“Customers in the affected areas will experience service interruptions during the period of the planned outages. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and kindly solicit your patience and understanding,” the TCN’s notice read.
