13 Permanent Secretaries Bow Out From Lagos State Public Service

Thirteen Permanent Secretaries who have served the Lagos State Government meritoriously and retired statutorily after attaining the mandatory 60 years or spending 35 years in service, were today celebrated amidst funfair, after they retired between February and October 2021.

The retired Permanent Secretary include; Mr. Mustapha, Abdul-Ahmed Olorunfemi Mohammed (Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources), Mr Olaide-Mesewaku, Babatunde Anthony (Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture), Arc. Dipe, Foluso Adebayo (Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development), Mrs. Durosinmi-Etti, Olorunkemi,(Cabinet Office), Eng. Hotonu, Olujimi Nunayon, (Ministry of Works and Infrastructure) Mr. Erinle, Olumide Olufolami (Education District V), Mrs Odejayi, Yetunde Adefolahan, (Office of the Deputy Governor), Mrs Adekanye, Adebunmi Elizabeth (Ministry of Home Affairs), Mrs Deile, Helen Morenike (Office of the State Auditor General), Mrs Ajenifuja, Kafayat Adetokunbo (Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment), Mrs Abolarin, Adesumbo Idiat (Office of the Auditor -General for Local Governments), Mrs Adelaja, Abosede Omobolanle (Ministry of Education) and Mrs Ayoola, Iyabo Oyeyemi (Ministry of Finance).

Speaking at the Year 2021 ‘Pens Down’ ceremony at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa on Wednesday, the Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, confirmed that all the 13 retirees contributed meritoriously to the growth and advancement of Lagos State, adding that it is an accomplishment that should not be taken for granted.

He, however, implored them to endeavour to render their services to the state whenever they are called upon to do so, adding that the government would continue to look forward to benefiting from their vast reservoirs of information policy formulation and implementation in order to continue to move the state forward.

“As the newest members of the Association of Lagos State Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries, government would continue to look forward to benefiting from your vast reservoirs of the policy formulation and implementation in order to continue to move the state forward,” Muri-Okunola said.

He also reminded the retirees that they are now better opportuned to deploy their skills, wide knowledge and extensive administrative and managerial experience to add value to themselves and their immediate communities, particularly the youths, who are expected to bear the burden of leadership after them..

The Head of Service expressed appreciation to the retirees for their loyalty, commitment, perseverance, dedication and untold sacrifices through the years, while also didn’t fail to acknowledge their support and cooperation with him as the Head of Service, because according to him’ All of you made my work easier’.

Also in his address, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mr. Samson Ajibade, said one of the major attributes of successful leaders is the sustained capacity to manage diverse human and material resources while ensuring compliance with processes, laid down procedure and relevant legal obligation processes of attaining organizational goals and objectives, a feat which made the 13 retirees counted among those that are being celebrated for unblemished public service career.

Ajibade rejoiced with the retirees and congratulated their families and numerous well wishers.

Responding on behalf of the retirees, Mrs Deile, Helen, the immediate permanent secretary of the Office of the State Auditor General, expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government for allowing them to serve, just as she advised those still in active service not to look back but ensure they contribute their quota to improve the lots of the state and humanity in general.
